Screened in Porch with Fireplace in the Heights Houston

Completed April, 2024
See More Projects

This older home in the Heights area of Houston had a small deck off the back that had served its purpose and the homeowner was ready for a brand new look.  Adding a screened porch gave them exactly what they wanted.

Before

This raised wooden deck off the back of the home was no longer what the homeowner desired. They wanted a complete update.

An Added Room

The new space was built off the existing roof line creating a beautiful vaulted ceiling. Because the home is an older pier and beam home, TCP created a level area off the back door and then a step down to the rest of the 420SF living area. The homeowner chose the fans and found the perfect light fixture for the space.

The Point of Interest

This gas fireplace is the main focal point of the room. It is finished in Brick x Brick by Alison Victoria Pearl from The Tile Shop. The gas logs are from Cunningham Living.

Additional Information

TCP installed low-voltage lighting a the step down for safety. On the outside between the garage and the new screened porch, large stepping stones with black star gravel were added to form a walkway.

And a new look for the back yard

This screened porch has dark screens to help keep the sun out. The other things that stay out are the mosquitoes and bugs!
