Patio Cover with Fireplace and Kitchen in Firethorne

Completed February, 2015
See More Projects

With the existing pool already dominating the backyard, the design challenge was to create space to enjoy a fireplace, outdoor kitchen and dining under a roof structure.

Before

Designed to Fit the Home

The L-shaped layout of the project helped to accommodate all of the desires of our homeowner. There was also an effort to create a “Texas Hill Country” look while designing and building the project to look like it belongs on the home.

Finishes

The wood-burning fireplace and the kitchen/columns used different, but complimentary stone. The hearth and column caps were finished in flagstone, while the kitchen counters are granite. The beams and columns were finished with a rough-cut Western Red Cedar and the ceiling was finished with tongue & groove pine. The flooring is a stamped concrete overlay in a Roman Slate pattern.

Outdoor Kitchen

A stucco wall was built behind the grill for privacy with an arched opening to provide venting for the grill.
