Here is the before — a sloped yard and not much space for the family to live outdoors.
A retaining wall was needed to create the space they envisioned. We added stairs on both sides of the new outdoor living space in order to access the lower yard area. Stair lights guide the way.
Coming up from the yard, you get a vision of what is inside. Cream limestone from Republic Stone is what makes up the walls, fireplace and kitchen. This was chosen to match the stone that was used on the front of the home. Darker chop block stone from Alliance Materials was used on the retaining wall – a nice contrast to the wall stone.
The arches and beautiful plants and landscaping create a cozy space to enjoy the outdoors any time of the year. There is about 600 SF of uncovered patio space. Flooring throughout the space is travertine tile in English Walnut – 4-size Versailles pattern from QDI Stone.
Being able to sit outside without worrying about pesky bugs… not to worry! Retractable shades from Dropshade were added with the tracks built into the masonry of the patio structure. Windows were installed in the gable openings on the sides of the fireplace chimney.
This custom wood burning fireplace is the central focus of the space.
Dining out… anytime! The perfect setting for any occasion.
The covered space is right at 600 SF with a beautiful vaulted ceiling. The ceiling material is Woodtone prestained 1×6 tongue and groove in American Nut Brown with custom cedar trim. Bromic Tungsten electric heaters were installed to add some warmth on those colder days and nights.
The outdoor kitchen is the perfect size and has everything the homeowner needs for their outdoor dining. A ceramic cooker, RCS grill and power burner, outdoor fridge and storage space.
What a perfect spot to sit outside and watch for shooting stars!
