This homeowner had a large backyard with a pool but wanted to enhance their outdoor space with a freestanding kitchen and lounge area. They were drawn to a past TCP project featuring an L-shaped kitchen and specific material choices. However, they wanted their version to be even larger, ensuring enough room for both culinary activities and comfortable seating.
The initial design featured a 19-foot L-shaped kitchen with no fireplace. As the project progressed, an additional 6 feet was incorporated to accommodate a ceramic smoker. The homeowner also opted to add a fireplace, serving both as a focal point and a privacy wall for the space.
The new structure spans approximately 375 square feet, featuring a vaulted ceiling with gables on three sides.
A fresh foundation was poured and finished with spray decking to match the existing pool deck.
The ceiling showcases RealSoffit pre-stained tongue and groove in Scottish Ale, adding warmth and elegance.
Masonry-based columns wrapped in Hardie and painted to match the home seamlessly integrate the new space with the existing property.
A Houston essential: Ceiling fans were installed to maintain airflow to ensure comfort during the hot months.
