This home had a large backyard and an existing pool. The homeowner wanted to add a structure that included an outdoor kitchen, fireplace and room to relax by the pool.
The family has grown up and the play fort is no longer used. A new freestanding pool house/outdoor living room was needed to accommodate the needs of the older family.
The new structure is almost 500 SF with a vaulted ceiling and gabled roof. Just steps from the back door, this space provides additional living space for the family.
TCP added additional decking that was finished off to match what was around the pool. The columns and soffit were painted to match the home.
The outdoor kitchen is a 10 foot linear counter area that includes a fridge, drawers and doors and an RCS gas grill from Cunningham Gas Living. The granite is from DalTile and the kitchen is faced with Yorkshire gray ledge stone from Alamo Stone.
There is a raised bar with extra seating along the outside of the counter providing lots of space for outdoor entertaining.
The focal point is the privacy wall with a gas burning fireplace. The privacy wall helps block out the noise and vision from the busy road that the home backs up to. Both the wall and the ceiling are finished with a stained tongue and groove cedar. The tile finish on the fireplace is Infinity Off White from The Tile Shop. A cedar mantle was installed.
The space has plenty of room for both dining and hanging out. Super easy to enjoy the outdoors!
The perfect evening. A dip in the pool, a movie and snack – all while watching the sun go down.
