August Project of the Month: Transforming a Breezeway into a Dream Space

August, 26, 2024

Before

This homeowner came to us with a beautiful, blank slate of a backyard and a detached garage. The only existing outdoor structure, a narrow breezeway, didn’t offer much in the way of usable space. So, we set out to bring to life the client’s vision for an outdoor space complete with a covered patio and outdoor kitchen and fireplace.

The new covered space is about 600SF with additional open-air patio off the front of the patio cover. Here’s a quick run-through of the materials used.

Flooring: A Versailles pattern tumbled travertine tiles from QDI.

Ceiling: Pre-stained tongue and groove in Scottish Ale from Woodtone.

Granite Countertop: Volga Blue from Daltile.

Natural Stone: The kitchen, columns and fireplace are faced with stone from Rock materials – Bluebonnet blend with some additional darker gray mixed in as well.

Wood-Burning Fireplace: Custom-built in the corner to create a cozy atmosphere.

Outdoor Kitchen: Although it’s only about 6 feet long, it’s the perfect space for outdoor grilling with a bar top counter for additional seating along the back side of the kitchen.

Appliances: Le Griddle dual burner, doors, drawers all from Cunningham Living.

Selecting the right materials for the patio is key to not only the design but also the durability of the space. Contact us today so we can turn your backyard into a space you’ll love for years to come.
